GMA Periodic Update – Public Hearing

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Stevens County Land Services Department, that pursuant to SCC 3.31 and RCW 36.70A, a public hearing has been scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2022 before  the Stevens County Planning Commission regarding the periodic update of  the Comprehensive Plan and Development Regulations. Those wishing to  attend the hearing have an option to attend in-person or virtually.

In-person location: the  Stevens County Ambulance Training Center located at 425 N Highway in  Colville. Parking for the facility is located on the West (side closest  to the North roundabout on Main Street). Please do not use the East side  parking area for the restaurant (Ronnie D’s).

Virtual Component: email Jenni Anderson at  janderson@stevenscountywa.gov.  A link to the meeting will be emailed approximately 1 week prior to the hearing.

The GMA periodic update includes the County-wide Planning Policies;  Comprehensive Plan; Title 3, Zoning, Subdivisions and Administrative  Procedures; and Title 13, Critical Areas. The full documents for the  update are available on the Stevens County Comprehensive Plan website  at:  http://stevenscompplanupdate.com/documents.php. Proposed changes include:
•updated policies and regulations to reflect changes in state law and administrative code;
•new policies and regulations pertaining to water resources and military training routes;
•updated regulations regarding  wetland rating methodology, riparian and wetland buffers, stormwater  runoff, water quality and nonpoint pollution;
•new regulations for subdivision  exemptions and large lot segregations, archaeological and historic  resources and electric vehicle infrastructure;
•revised regulations for urban open space, marijuana land uses, and subdivision alterations and vacations;
•requests for site specific zone changes.

Pursuant to WAC 197-11-625, Stevens County reviewed the update for  probable adverse environmental impacts and issued an EIS Addendum on  December 13, 2021. Comments on the Addendum ended on February 10, 2022  with the 60-Day Notice of Intent to Adopt. No further comment regarding  the environmental review are being considered at this time.
