The House Committee on Energy and Commerce has scheduled a subcommittee markup session to consider several public health reauthorization bills. The session will be led by Congressman Brett Guthrie, Chairman of the committee, and Congressman Morgan Griffith, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health.
The markup is set for Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 10:15 AM ET in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The meeting will address multiple pieces of legislation focused on public health initiatives.
Among the bills to be reviewed are H.R. 4262, which seeks to reauthorize programs related to health professions education; H.R. 3593, known as the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025; and H.R. 2493, titled Improving Care in Rural America Reauthorization Act of 2025. Other items include H.R. 3419 concerning telehealth network grant programs; H.R. 3302 regarding Healthy Start program reauthorization; H.R. 2846 relating to benefits for commissioned officers in the Public Health Service; and H.R. 4709, the Newborn Screening Saves Lives Reauthorization Act of 2025.
