Time and time again, Democrats have abused their power to try and control how Americans live their lives. It started with President Biden’s rush-to-green agenda, and it’s made its way to Eastern Washington under Governor Jay Inslee and Attorney General Bob Ferguson.

They want the government to decide what kind of car you can drive, how you can heat your home or business, and the kind of stove you use to cook food for your family. This isn’t the American way, and it completely ignores the important role natural gas plays in our everyday lives, especially when severe weather knocks out the power for days on end.

That’s why I helped pass two bills today in the House of Representatives to end this ridiculous government overreach and protect your ability to use a gas stove. The first bill is called the Save Our Gas Stoves Act, and it would explicitly prohibit the U.S. Department of Energy from issuing regulations that would effectively ban gas stoves. Even more important — this bill would help make sure Governor Inslee can’t ban gas stoves either.

The bottom line is that natural gas is a safe, reliable, and affordable energy source for so many in Eastern Washington. It’s an energy source we should be working to unleash, not eliminate. You have the right to choose what appliance you use in your home, and I’m proud of the work we did today to protect your rights.
