Family, Friend and Neighbor (FFN) caregivers were awarded $87,600 through the North Central Educational Service District, which will be used to build and develop relationships between children and their child care partnerships.
“We’ve reached out to a number of community based partners that have a broad reach into the community,” Josie Komorowski, early learning coordinator, told News Radio 560 KPQ.
Some caregiver partners include the Omak School Distric, the Wenatchee Valley College and the Apple STEM Network.
“Providing learning and networking is going to increase caregiver resilience, keep caregivers able and available to provide care,” Komorowski told News Radio 560 KPQ.
FFN caregivers are over 70% of caregivers in Okanogan County and is often left out of formal opportunities for educator to learn, which leads to isolation.
This award will help with the education and is part of f the Washington State Department of Commerce Child Care Partnership grants program.
