Winthrop Library Grand Opening Week Celebrations

NCW Libraries and Friends of the Winthrop Library (FOWL) are featuring a fun array of special activities and programs from June 11-18 to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Winthrop Library Building.

Throughout opening week, June 11-18, during library hours, the following activities will be available.

Quilt Show and Auction, hosted by FOWL

Methow Valley quilters have been hard at work creating over 40 book themed quilts to celebrate the new Winthrop Library building. Quilts will be on display through opening week with the online auction running from June 8-18th. Auction proceeds will benefit FOWL and help complete funding of the building and its surrounding Outdoor Library. Learn more here.

Technology Taste Test

Explore a petting zoo of technology from a 3D print to a green screen photo booth. Learn More

Teen Scavenger Hunt

Designed by and for teens, discover the library by following the breadcrumbs through a variety of fun activities. Learn More

Methow Valley Library History

The Methow Valley has cherished its libraries! This photo exhibit by the Shafer Museum will give you a glimpse into the past.

Librarian Ree has planned several special programs for Tuesday, June 14-Saturday June 18.

Family Sphero Painting

Tuesday, June 14 from 4-6PM

Create collaborative paintings with Sphero Robots. All ages are welcome! Learn More

Smoke-Ready Communities

Wednesday, June 15 from 5:30-6:30PM

Hear from Liz Walker, PhD, of Clear Air Methow who will share practical information about the health risks of wildfire smoke and resources for building “smoke-ready communities.” Learn More

The Keystone Connection

Thursday, June 16 from 4-5PM

Calling all kids and kids at heart! Did you know beavers help create a better habitat for fish to live in and assist the land in recovering from wildfires? Join staff members from the Methow Beaver Project to explore beaver ecology and learn how we can help beavers improve the Methow River Watershed. Learn More

Play and Learn Storytime: All about Quilts!

Saturday, June 18

10:30-11:30AM

Enjoy stories inspired by the beautiful quilts being shown at the library! Share a fun experience with your kids through entertaining stories, songs, and activities that introduce important literacy, STEM, and social skills. Learn More
