House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) has criticized President Biden's approach towards China, stating that he has made America more reliant on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In a statement following President Biden's comments on the CCP during his State of the Union Address, Rodgers emphasized the dangers of America's dependence on China, saying, "China is America’s greatest adversary and poses significant risk to our national and economic security."

Rodgers accused President Biden of empowering the Chinese Communist Party and weakening American leadership through policies such as electric vehicle mandates and regulations that harm American manufacturing. She asserted that these actions have allowed China to gain a competitive edge over the United States. Rodgers called on President Biden to change course, stating, "President Biden must abandon his reckless agenda and join Republicans in our efforts to beat China and win the future."

The Energy and Commerce Committee Republicans are working on legislation aimed at reducing America's reliance on China and strengthening American leadership. This includes bills such as the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act, the Strategic Production Response Act, and the Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve from China Act. These initiatives are part of efforts to counter China's influence and protect American interests.

As tensions between the United States and China continue to escalate, Rodgers and her Republican colleagues are focused on addressing the challenges posed by China's growing power. They are committed to implementing measures that will safeguard American interests and reduce dependency on China in various sectors, including energy and manufacturing.
