CITY OF COLVILLE CONSIDERS NEW ZONING DISTRICT – HEARING SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 1
City of Colville – The City of Colville Planning Commission invites the public to attend a hearing to consider a newly drafted “Neighborhood Mixed Use” Zoning District which is
intended to “provide a range of commercial services and or multifamily housing to create mixed-use nodes and promote walkability within the City” per the city’s comprehensive
plan. Other associated code changes related to parking design requirements and zoning use allowances are also under consideration. The draft zoning code changes follow five
workshops by the commission and are based on policies and recommendations within the City’s adopted Comprehensive Plan and Housing Action Plan. Planning Commission
Chairman Doug Kyle said of the changes and upcoming hearing, “I would encourage public participation in this process because this new type of zone is different than any of our
existing zoning and will impact lots within our current City limits, as well as parcels within the Urban Growth Area, if the property owners wish to annex. The impacts could be both
immediate and long term.”
The planning commission is anticipated to make a recommendation to the City Council following the hearing. When the City Council takes up the matter, it must be based on the
record by the planning commission and as such, the time for public comment will be at or before the upcoming commission hearing.
The hearing will be on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 6:00pm at City Hall, located at 170 South Oak, Colville, WA 99114. Remote participation will also be made available on the
city’s website (www.colville.wa.us) by July 27, 2022.
