Congressmen Brett Guthrie and Gus Bilirakis expressed their trust in the newly confirmed Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Commissioner, Mark Meador. Following the Senate's confirmation, Guthrie, the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and Bilirakis, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade, issued a statement emphasizing the need to restore the FTC's focus.
"In the last administration, the FTC abandoned its rich bipartisan tradition and historical mission, in favor of a radical agenda and partisan mismanagement. The Commission needs to return to protecting Americans from bad actors and preserving competition in the marketplace," the congressmen stated. They expressed confidence that Meador, along with Chairman Ferguson and Commissioner Holyoak, will restore trust in the FTC and return it to its role as the nation's leading consumer protection agency.
The statement reflects their hope for the FTC's renewed focus on transparency and accountability.
