Today, Congressmen Brett Guthrie and Morgan Griffith announced the first hearing of the 119th Congress for the Subcommittee on Environment. The hearing is titled "A Decade Later: Assessing the Legacy and Impact of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act."

"The domestic production of chemicals is critical to the growth of our economy and vital to the success of American manufacturers," stated Chairmen Guthrie and Griffith. They expressed concerns that nearly ten years after its passage, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has implemented the law's requirements in a way that contradicts congressional intent. "During this hearing, the Subcommittee on Environment will get to the root of those policies that have inhibited American innovation and our ability to compete in the global market," they added.

The hearing will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM ET in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. It will be open to both public and press attendance and available via livestream at https://energycommerce.house.gov/.
