Today, a hearing was announced by Congressman Brett Guthrie of Kentucky and Congressman Gus Bilirakis of Florida, both key figures in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. The hearing is titled "AI in Manufacturing: Securing American Leadership in Manufacturing and the Next Generation of Technologies."
Chairmen Guthrie and Bilirakis emphasized the importance of manufacturing to the American economy. "Our country’s rich manufacturing history has been a cornerstone of the American economy, driving entrepreneurship, job creation, and economic growth," they stated. They acknowledged that while consumer-facing AI applications have gained public interest, enterprise AI technologies have also significantly impacted manufacturing recently. They stressed fostering innovation, strengthening supply chains, and promoting a skilled workforce as essential steps to maintaining America's leadership in future manufacturing.
The Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade will hold this hearing on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. It is scheduled for 10:00 AM ET at the Rayburn House Office Building. The event is open to both the public and press and will be live-streamed online.
