Today, Congressman Brett Guthrie of Kentucky and Congressman Morgan Griffith of Virginia announced a hearing to discuss the potential for redeveloping brownfield sites. These sites could be used for developing critical infrastructure. The hearing will explore opportunities within the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Brownfield Site program.

Chairmen Guthrie and Griffith stated, "As we look to grow American innovation, it’s time to examine the EPA’s Brownfield Site program and explore how these legacy sites can be used to support the development of critical infrastructure that will be vital to maintaining America’s competitive advantage." They emphasized the importance of examining how Congress can encourage innovation while addressing challenges that may hinder new development in communities.

The Subcommittee on Environment will hold a hearing titled "Maximizing Opportunities for Redeveloping Brownfield Sites: Assessing the Potential for New American Innovation." This event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 10:15 AM ET in Room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The public and press are invited to attend, and it will also be livestreamed online at energycommerce.house.gov.
