Today, a joint statement was released by Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, alongside House Republican Leadership and Committee Chairmen involved in the budget reconciliation process. The statement highlights the passage of a bill to fund the government through the fiscal year end.
The statement emphasizes that "House Republicans took the lead" in passing this bill and shifts focus to delivering "President Trump’s full America First agenda." It outlines priorities such as securing borders, maintaining low taxes for families and job creators, economic growth, restoring American energy dominance, achieving peace through strength, and improving government efficiency and accountability.
"We took the first step to accomplish that by passing a budget resolution weeks ago," states the release. It also calls on Senate colleagues to support this initiative when they return to Washington. The statement expresses urgency in enacting President Trump's agenda swiftly: "The American people gave us a mandate and we must act on it."
The joint statement is attributed to several members of Congress including Congressman Mike Johnson (LA-04), Speaker of the House; Congressman Steve Scalise (LA-01), House Majority Leader; Congressman Tom Emmer (MN-06), House Majority Whip; Congresswoman Lisa McClain (MI-09), House Republican Conference Chairwoman; among others.
This collaborative effort is described as an opportunity to deliver what could be one of "the most consequential pieces of legislation in the history of our nation."
