House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers expressed her enthusiasm for the Health Subcommittee markup of 19 bills aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of patients and caregivers. Chair Rodgers emphasized the importance of reauthorizing vital programs that are set to expire, stating, "Many of the bills before us today reauthorize important programs that are due to expire September 30, and I am hopeful we can renew them in advance of that deadline, through regular order." She commended the committee's efforts in ensuring timely reauthorizations and new initiatives like the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act.

One of the key initiatives discussed was the authorization of the INCLUDE Project at the National Institutes of Health, which focuses on improving the lives of individuals with disabilities. Chair Rodgers shared her personal connection to the project, highlighting its impact on Down syndrome research and its potential to benefit patients with various conditions. She urged support for the bill, emphasizing the importance of funding for the program in a fiscally responsible manner.
