House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Subcommittee on Health Chair Brett Guthrie have announced a subcommittee hearing titled "Legislative Proposals to Support Patient Access to Telehealth Services." In a joint statement, Chairs Rodgers and Guthrie emphasized the importance of telehealth services, particularly in light of the pandemic and its impact on healthcare delivery.

"The pandemic opened our eyes to the many benefits telehealth services provide to patients, especially those in rural areas or who are homebound. Similarly, previous investments have demonstrated success as telehealth is playing a key role in addressing the mental health crisis in America," said Chairs Rodgers and Guthrie. They highlighted the need to ensure that patients have the choice to access healthcare through telehealth when appropriate and convenient for them, while also ensuring that technological innovations benefit both patients and the Medicare program.

The upcoming Subcommittee on Health hearing, titled "Legislative Proposals to Support Patient Access to Telehealth Services," is scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM ET in the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing will focus on discussing various legislative proposals aimed at improving patient access to telehealth services.

A list of the legislative proposals to be considered during the hearing includes a wide range of bills such as the KEEP Telehealth Options Act of 2023, the Telemental Health Care Access Act, the Expanded Telehealth Access Act, the CONNECT for Health Act of 2023, and many others introduced by different representatives.

The hearing will be open to the public and press, with live streaming available online. For inquiries regarding the hearing, individuals are encouraged to contact Emma Schultheis with the Committee staff, while press-related questions can be directed to Christopher Krepich. Additional contact information for the Committee is provided for those seeking further details.

The announcement of this hearing underscores the ongoing efforts within the House Energy and Commerce Committee to address the evolving landscape of healthcare delivery and ensure that patients have access to quality care through telehealth services.
