Rep. Randy Weber, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, shared his concerns at a field hearing in Port Arthur, Texas, regarding President Biden's ban on LNG exports. Weber emphasized the significance of the LNG industry in Southeast Texas, particularly in Port Arthur, highlighting the job opportunities and economic benefits it brings to the region.

Weber expressed his disappointment in Biden's decision, stating, "Just a few miles away from here is the home of Port Arthur LNG and Golden Pass LNG, both of which provide THOUSANDS of direct jobs and BILLIONS of dollars back into our community." He also mentioned the impact on Cheniere LNG in Louisiana, which employs Texans, and Freeport LNG in Brazoria County.

The congressman criticized the ban for its detrimental effects on ongoing projects, such as Port Arthur LNG's Phase One construction, which was expected to create thousands of jobs and generate millions of dollars in local revenue. Weber lamented, "This ban will cost Southeast Texas thousands of jobs and hurt businesses that rely on projects like these."

Weber highlighted the positive contributions of LNG companies to the community, including supporting education programs at Lamar State College Port Arthur, donating to local schools, and engaging in environmental and infrastructure improvement projects. He emphasized the role of American LNG in promoting energy dominance, creating jobs, and enhancing the country's leadership globally.

In closing, Weber thanked the witnesses for sharing their perspectives at the hearing and acknowledged the support from the attendees. The congressman's remarks underscored the importance of the LNG industry in Southeast Texas and the negative impact of Biden's export ban on the region's economy and job market.
